Texas 4000 is dedicated to fighting cancer by sharing hope, knowledge and charity. We cultivate the next generation to lead the fight against cancer through our cornerstone event, a more than 4,000-mile bike ride from Austin to Anchorage. 70 University of Texas students will leave Austin, Texas on June 1, 2013 and will ride for about 70 days, an average of 80 miles per day, until they reach Anchorage, Alaska on August 9th. The team divides into three routes, touching thousands of lives along the way with their life-saving messages about prevention and awareness and encouraging people to contact LIVESTRONG Navigation Services for support. 100 more students have already been competitively selected for next year’s summer ride. Each student must raise $4,500, volunteer 50+ hours in the community, train 1,500 miles with their team, and attend weekly planning meetings for 18 months.
