LIVESTRONG and Fertile Hope

Fertile Hope is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing reproductive information, support and hope to cancer patients and survivors whose medical treatments present the risk of infertility.

In 2009, LIVESTRONG acquired Fertile Hope's programs and services. Both organizations have been partners since Fertile Hope's inception in 2001.

Together, LIVESTRONG and Fertile Hope are achieving more around cancer and fertility than either organization could alone. Together, LIVESTRONG and Fertile Hope are dedicated to:

• Providing patient education on cancer‐related infertility and parenthood after cancer.
• Improving the informed consent process between the patient and the health care professional to include discussion of the risk of infertility with cancer therapy.
• Maintaining relationships within the reproductive community.
• Increasing access to fertility services for those diagnosed with cancer through financial assistance.
• Providing emotional support services to cancer survivors dealing with infertility.
• Increasing access to fertility services through policy reform.
• Increasing cancer research funding for survivorship issues, including fertility.

Live:On Kit

The Live:On sperm banking by mail kit provides male cancer patients with a practical, convenient and cost-effective tool to help them bank their sperm. Order the kit free of charge to stock in your clinic or hospital and distribute to newly diagnosed patients.

Banking onsite at a clinic might produce a higher-quality specimen than banking by mail. However, Live:On is an effective alternative to sperm banking onsite:

• Makes it easy to coordinate with your patient's therapy
• Offers privacy of collecting the specimen in a place where your patient feels comfortable

The Live:On kit is an important option for patients who do not live near a sperm bank, who cannot leave the hospital or who are uncomfortable going to a sperm banking facility. Men may send their specimens from anywhere in the continental U.S. to Cryogenic Laboratories, Inc.

Along with detailed instructions, each Live:On kit includes transport solution that stabilizes sperm and serves to maintain its quality during transit. Overnight delivery assures that the specimen is received and processed within 24 hours.

The cost of the kit, including one year of storage, is $675, and your patient will be charged when his sample is received by CLI. Financial assistance programs to help with the costs of sperm banking may be available.
