Sharon Mooney is a landscape architect I met three years ago. She lives in Newport, RI, and is an active cyclist, skier and swimmer. She has had her lower insides under the knife three times for a rare form of melanoma, had a course of radiation and is now participating in a phase one clinical trial at Dana Farber. The second surgery was six weeks before the 2009 Ride for the Roses when she rode 65 miles with me and Josh Knerly. It was about six weeks after Josh's wife Kaya had died from lung cancer. Sharon has recently been told she now has several spots in her lungs and we decided to create this fund to give her a boost. She is the calendar girl for LIVESTRONG, in my opinion.
