We fight to improve the lives of people affected by cancer
Growing up, every person has a role model. Someone they look to for advice. Who's opinion matters most. Who you want to be when you grow up.
My older sister, Meghan, has always been that person for me. She is selfless, hard working, determined, and beautifully kind. They day she called to tell me she was diagnosed with adrenal cancer, I asked the age old question, "Why her?" Why would someone who gives of them self so fully without anything in return, be faced with this challenge?
I have since learned that question will always remain unanswered, and there is no use in us asking it. But there is something we can do: fight. We can fight with medicine, research, friendship, love, and support.
My sister has handled cancer with more grace and strength than I could have ever imagined. We are only in the early stage of battle, and I am running and fundraising for LIVESTRONG to give my family and others, hope and strength to win the fight.
