I've come to learn over the past few years that I've been competing in triathlon the journey is the most rewarding. My mom has taught me a lot about overcoming difficulty and pain over the past few years as she has not been dealt the best hand with regards to her health. In addition to being insulin dependent and managing diabetes on a daily basis, she battled leukemia 6 years ago and survived a stroke 4 years ago. WOW - is she a fighter or what!
Every time I train and race, I hear my mom's voice screaming at me to go faster and push past the pain! I race for my mom because she can't - her health ailments restrict her from many physical activities now. I race for my mom because I want to show her my strength and willpower. I race for my mom because she taught me to always give it my all.
My mom is the most selfless person in this world - it seems impossible to properly express my gratitude and appreciation towards my mom and all that she has sacrificed for me.As part of Team LIVESTRONG, I'm making a difference in the fight against cancer. I've joined with other people around the globe and across different events to raise money for the LIVESTRONG Foundation.
The money I raise will support programs and services for cancer survivors. These resources help people diagnosed with cancer face the challenges of the disease head on. Livestrong.org/WeCanHelp
