I'm happy to write you for the eighth consecutive year about the 2014 LiveSTRONG cause. In Augusts past of '07-'13, I've done the Philadelphia LiveSTRONG Challenge
with friends, family, and former teammates of fellow CMU rower Jon
Milikowsky, who was claimed much too early by cancer complications in
August, 2006.  I'm signed up to participate in the 2013 Philadelphia LiveSTRONG Challenge
with "Jon's Crew", a group dedicated to help remember Jon and his
impact on our lives in and out of the boat. Jon was a passionate cyclist
and rower. I am prepared to ride 100 miles on Sunday, August 17th in
Jon's honor with our team at this year's LiveSTRONG Challenge.  I'm also riding for an extended family member, Marlene, who has recently struggled through a continuing battle with cancer.

More
than 1.3 million people in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer this
year alone.  This means someone you know and couldn't live without will
be affected. Three out of four families in America will be faced with
caring for a family member with cancer. As a team of focused athletes
that support and encourage one another, we are one of those families.  As part of Team LIVESTRONG, I'm making a difference in the fight against
cancer. I've joined with other people around the globe and across
different events to raise money for the LIVESTRONG Foundation.

The Foundation serves people affected by cancer and empowers them to
take action against this disease that is now the world's leading cause
of death. LIVESTRONG has become a symbol of hope and inspiration to
people affected by cancer around the world.

The money I raise will support programs and services for cancer
survivors. These resources help people diagnosed with cancer face the
challenges of the disease head on and live life on their own terms.

Please support me as I make a difference in the cancer fight through my
participation in Team LIVESTRONG.

I'm
required to raise $250 to participate in the Challenge, but my goal is
to raise $750. I will need the support of friends and family like you to
achieve this goal.  Our team is consistently one of the most successful
fundraisers at this event. The money that you donate will help further
the Lance Armstrong Foundation's (LAF) mission to inspire and empower
people affected by cancer.  I would be more than happy to carry a personal memento during my ride of anyone you may know that has been affected by cancer.  It
will provide educational tools and resources and will help the LAF in
its goal to make cancer a national priority.  I have extra LiveSTRONG bracelets to give you and your loved ones if you're in the area.

You can donate securely online here.
Please email me any questions or concerns that you might have.  Thank
you in advance for your generosity and understanding how important this
cause and event are to me. Together we can make a difference in the
fight against cancer!Thank you!
