Q: What is LIVESTRONG Day?
LIVESTRONG Day is the LAF’s one-day initiative to unite people affected by cancer in raising awareness of cancer issues on a global level and in communities across the country.

LIVESTRONG Day is October 2, 2009, and this year more than 1000 local events will take place around the world to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer.

Q: When is LIVESTRONG Day 2009?
This year, LIVESTRONG Day is Friday, October 2, 2009.

Q: What should I do as a LIVESTRONG Day event organizer?
LIVESTRONG Day is about doing something to make a difference in the fight against cancer in a way that is meaningful and comfortable to you. Our goal is to raise awareness and funds for the cancer fight and to show support for people affected by cancer.

On October 2, events and activities of all types will take place around the world in support of cancer survivors and their loved ones. Each LIVESTRONG Day activity will organized by a volunteer who wants to make a difference in his or her community.

Anyone, anywhere can organize a LIVESTRONG Day bake sale, bike ride, potluck dinner, Wear Yellow Day or ask the mayor or governor to declare October 2nd LIVESTRONG Day in your community.

Q: Why is the LAF not having an event in Washington, D.C., this year?
The LAF continues to have a presence and events in Washington, D.C. However, we’ve decided to focus LIVESTRONG Day on the grassroots level, so they are no longer linked.

Q: When is the deadline to register my event?
You can register your event up until LIVESTRONG Day on October 2. However, to receive an event organizer kit, you must register your event by September 1, 2009.

Q: Will the LAF reimburse costs associated with organizing a LIVESTRONG Day event?
The LAF is unable to provide financial assistance for costs associated with organizing your LIVESTRONG Day event.

Q: How do I plan a successful LIVESTRONG Day event?
After you have registered your event you will gain access to an internal website (http://my.livestrong.org) where we offer resources to assist you with planning, ideas, media outreach and communication with other organizers.

Q: How can I get media attention?
Once you register your event, you will gain access to http://my.livestrong.org. Here you will find information and tools that can assist you in working with the media. The following media outreach materials are available on http://my.livestrong.org.

Q: How can the LAF help my event be a success?
Once you register your event, you will gain access to http://my.livestrong.org. Here you will find helpful materials to assist you with planning your event, including event ideas and community message boards to help make your LIVESTRONG Day event a success. Check back often because additional tools will be added as LIVESTRONG Day draws nearer.

Q: Can a LAF staff member attend my LIVESTRONG Day Event?
Due to the current economic climate, LAF staff is unable to travel LIVESTRONG Day events this year. However, the LAF staff will be involved with LIVESTRONG Day in our hometown of Austin and have developed materials and other resources to support your efforts.

Q: If I do not live in the United States, can I still participate in LIVESTRONG Day?
Yes. We encourage people from all over the world to participate in LIVESTRONG Day.

Q: What if I want to host a LIVESTRONG Day event and do not have details finalized, can I still register?
Yes. We encourage everyone to register their event, even if details are not finalized. Once you register your event, you will have access to http://my.livestrong.org where you will be able to update your event details at any time. Here you will find helpful materials to assist you with planning your event, including event ideas and community message boards to help make your LIVESTRONG Day event a success.

Q: Can I get a signed item from Lance for my LIVESTRONG Day Event?
As you can imagine, we receive many requests for signed items from Lance. Unfortunately, we cannot fulfill all those requests. Through Partners in Hope, we reserve a limited amount of items for established 501(c)(3) organizations to use for their fundraising activities. We do not provide items to grassroots fundraisers or individuals for this purpose. If you are an established 501(c)(3) organization, you may submit the Partners in Hope application online at www.livestrong.org/partnersinhope; however, not all qualified requestors will receive a signed item.

Q: How may I contact Lance Armstrong?
Unfortunately, we are unable to put you directly in touch with Lance. Although we are unable to schedule Lance to attend your event, every day he is representing cancer survivors and the cancer community at large to help make cancer a global priority. Visit the LIVESTRONG Blog for updates from Lance and others at the LAF.

Q: How can order LIVESTRONG apparel for my event?
Please visit the LIVESTRONG Store to purchase LIVESTRONG apparel for your LIVESTRONG Day event.

Note: The LIVESTRONG apparel available on the LIVESTRONG Store may not be altered. However, you are welcome to purchase blank t-shirts and use the logos we offer on our website to brand your apparel.
