“A CONVERSATION WITH LANCE” ABOUT LIFE WITH CANCER
Event to Feature Interview with Lance and Junior Spirit of Survivorship Award Presentation

AUSTIN, Texas — September 30, 2004 — The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) is proud to present a unique event at this year’s Ride for the Roses Weekend focused on life with cancer. “A Conversation with Lance” is sponsored by Wells Fargo and will be hosted by Ann Curry, news anchor for NBC’s “Today Show.” The event will take place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2004, at the Austin Convention Center.

The program will feature an interview with Lance by Curry about the unique challenges facing millions of people living with cancer, followed by a question and answer session with a select panel of cancer survivors.

The first annual Junior Spirit of Survivorship Carpe Diem Award will also be presented at the event. The award recognizes a young person living with cancer who has demonstrated a resilient attitude toward his or her diagnosis and inspired others to live strong. The inaugural recipient, 16-year-old Alexander Oden, will receive a $5,000 college scholarship for his remarkable efforts in fundraising, volunteering and outreach while battling germinoma, a germ cell brain tumor.

“A Conversation with Lance” is part of the annual Ride for the Roses Weekend, a celebration of the fundraising efforts of the 2004 Peloton Project, the LAF’s major grassroots fundraising and outreach program. The three-day event will take place October 15-17 in Austin, Texas.

Seats are limited for the event and tickets are available now at www.laf.org for $10 each. Purchased tickets will be held at a will call location in the Wells Fargo booth at the Powerbar Health & Sports Expo. Photo identification is required to claim your tickets. Doors at the Convention Center will open at 7 p.m.
