SUMMER'S HOTTEST FASHION COLOR: YELLOW
Leading Designers Create Yellow Auction Items to Benefit Lance Armstrong Foundation Programs that Help People with Cancer Live Strong
AUSTIN, Texas - July 6, 2004 - The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) announced today an online auction of one-of-a-kind yellow garments and accessories created by the world's leading fashion designers. The auction, hosted by Style.com, will begin on July 6 and end on July 16. All proceeds from the sale of auction items will benefit the LAF.
For Lance Armstrong, yellow is the color of hope, courage, inspiration and perseverance. It is also the color the leader's jersey in the Tour de France. In July, yellow will be the premier color in the fashion world as well as the color of support for people living with cancer. The auction will coincide with the first half of the Tour de France and Lance's attempt at a historic 6th win.
Featured items include an Oscar de la Renta yellow dress and clutch from the spring/summer 2004 collection worth $15,000; a pair of thigh high suede banana boots donated by Manolo Blahnik; a Louis Vuitton custom-made yellow Epi hatbox; and an 18-karet gold bracelet worth $7,000 donated by Robert Lee Morris. Additional designs will include items from Carolina Herrera, Narciso Rodriguez, David Yurman, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karen, Michael Kors and many more. Gibson Guitar Corp. also donated a yellow guitar that will be signed by Sheryl Crow.
For those who love designer apparel, but lack a designer budget, one can also wear yellow by purchasing a $1 yellow Live Strong wristband at www.wearyellow.com. As a tribute to Lance Armstrong's inspirational fight against cancer as well as his historic attempt at a sixth Tour de France win, the LAF and Nike launched the Wear Yellow Live Strong campaign last month. Nike has donated $1 million to the Foundation and is leading efforts to raise an additional $5 million through the sale of yellow wristbands engraved with Lance's mantra, Live Strong. All proceeds will benefit LAF programs that help young people with cancer live strong.
