Kabul to Bagram Air Base and Kandahar

We planned to start the day at Bagram Air Base and we were looking forward to meeting the troops there. But the weather is still rough and the pilots felt uncomfortable with the conditions there, so we were re-routed to our next stop, Kandahar. We understand, of course, but we also feel bad for the troops at Bagram.

There were lots of international troops in Kabul, which is cool, and we met people from the U.S., Great Britain, France, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Romania, Croatia, Poland, Italy, Mongolia and, of course, Afghanistan.

It was cold, snowy and cloudy in Kabul. Conditions are pretty tough here. The locals walk around in outfits that look fit for Austin, Texas weather — 70s and sunny. Unreal.

We are off to Kyrgyzstan next. More photos soon.
