Lance Armstrong Foundation appoints two new leadership positions
Morgan L. Binswanger named Chief of Staff and
Philippe G. Hills named Executive Vice President for Development
AUSTIN, Texas – July 31, 2008 – The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) is pleased to announce the appointments of two new leadership positions: Morgan L. Binswanger as Chief of Staff and Philippe G. Hills as Executive Vice President for Development.
"It's a pleasure to welcome both Morgan and Phil to the LAF team," said Foundation President Doug Ulman. "They each bring a breadth of high caliber experience to their positions and will be integral in helping the Foundation reach its most ambitious goals."
In his role as Chief of Staff, Binswanger will work in close collaboration with Ulman and will serve as a member of the executive management team to provide leadership, direction and vision to facilitate LAF's short term and long term strategic planning.
Binswanger, a native of Maine, joins the LAF team after serving as Director of the Jimmy Carter Work Project, Habitat for Humanity's major international building effort focusing on decent and affordable housing. Prior to his work with Habitat, Binswanger was Co-Director of the Creative Artists Agency Foundation (CAA) in Los Angeles, CA for six years. In addition, he has served in leadership positions and as a strategic consultant with various foundations and non-profits over the last 20 years including the Entertainment Industry Foundation, the Special Olympics, the Broad Foundation, Rock the Vote and America's Promise.
As Executive Vice President for Development and a member of the executive management team, Hills will work closely with Ulman and volunteer leaders to provide leadership and direction for implementing and growing a sophisticated development operation that will increase overall giving and help elevate the organization to greater prominence.
Hills, a native of Massachusetts, joins the LAF team after serving as Vice President of Development for the Robert W. Woodruff Health Sciences Center of Emory University in Atlanta, GA. During his nine year tenure at Emory, the Woodruff Health Sciences Center raised more than $1.4 billion in philanthropic support. Hills built the development team from a staff of seven professionals to more than 50 and increased average annual total private support from $16 million to more than $120 million. Hills has more than 20 years experience in all areas of development and external affairs.
