LIVESTRONG Day

LIVESTRONG Day is the Lance Armstrong Foundation's (LAF) grassroots advocacy initiative to unify people affected by cancer and to raise awareness about cancer issues on a national level and in local communities across the country.  LIVESTRONG Day 2007 will occur on Wednesday, May 16.

There are three ways you can become involved in LIVESTRONG Day activities.

Participate in a LIVESTRONG Day event in your area.

Many LIVESTRONG Day events are open to the general public. If you are unable to organize an event and still want to be involved, use our LIVESTRONG Day local event search tool to find an event in your area.

Organize a LIVESTRONG Day event in your community.

Submit your idea for a LIVESTRONG Day event in your community to raise awareness and show your support for cancer survivors and their loved ones in your area.

Once your event is approved, you will have access to additional materials and ideas to help you plan and execute your event. You will also have an opportunity to connect with other local event organizers from across the country to share event planning ideas, advice and camaraderie for LIVESTRONG Day.

The application period to be a LIVESTRONG Day local event organizer has closed.  The final deadline was Friday, May 4 at 5:00 p.m. CST.

Become a cancer survivorship delegate and represent your state on Capitol Hill.

Apply to be a part of the LAF-lead group of advocates who meet with congressional leaders to raise awareness in Washington, D.C., about the numerous unaddressed issues faced by people living with cancer.

As a representative for your state, you will receive special advocate training on Tuesday, May 15, to prepare you for your meetings with members of Congress and an opportunity to connect with other cancer survivorship advocates.

The LAF seeks a cross-section of Americans interested in making cancer a national priority. Through an application process, the Foundation will identify current and potential leaders who are willing to participate as part of the LAF's overall advocacy efforts as well as in their local communities.

Anyone affected by cancer - from those recently diagnosed through post-treatment, to caregivers, family and friends - is encouraged to apply. Travel and accommodations for Washington, D.C., delegates will be provided by the LAF, and a registration fee of $115 will be assessed for all selected Capitol Hill delegates.

The application period to be a Washington, D.C., delegate has closed.  The final application deadline was February 23 at 5:00 p.m. CST.
