What does the LAF expect from LIVESTRONG Day participants?
LIVESTRONG Day is about doing something to make a difference in the fight against cancer - in the way you feel most comfortable. Our goal is to raise awareness and bring attention to the issues cancer survivors face that often go unaddressed. On May 16, there will be activities of all sizes and types taking place all over the country to unify people affected by cancer.

On LIVESTRONG Day, the LAF will lead a group of 200 advocates to Washington, D.C., to raise awareness on Capitol Hill about the numerous unaddressed issues faced by the more than 10 million cancer survivors and their families in the United States. These issues include:

  • Potential funding cuts to federal cancer programs
  • Increased access to quality care
  • Reduced disparities in treatment

These delegates will meet with lawmakers to demonstrate a united voice against cancer and will act as a reminder that cancer needs to be made a national priority.

To complement advocacy efforts in Washington, D.C., LIVESTRONG Day events will be held in local communities across the country in support of cancer survivors and their loved ones. Each LIVESTRONG Day activity is being organized by a volunteer who decided that they can help make a difference in their community.
