COMMUNITY PROGRAM2009 In 2008, we received an overwhelming number of highly rated grant applications. In response, in early 2009, the LAF funding went towards additional proposals that were recommended for funding in the 2008 grant cycle. To learn more about these grants, read the press release. Additional awards went out to our E. Lee Walker recipients Emilio Nares Foundation, New York Legal Assistance Group and LION IN THE HOUSE project. In 2009, we are funding community-based programs in nearly 100 US communities through a number of LAF initiatives. Additionally, we will continue and expand on our efforts to support community organizations through technical assistance and training throughout the year. 2008 The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) awarded nearly $1 million in grants to eight community-based programs across the U.S. These grants focus on education for health care professionals and evidenced based interventions.
