Us TOO International Prostate Cancer Education & Support Network
Us TOO International is a nonprofit organization that provides information, peer counseling and education to men with prostate cancer and their partners. The Web site includes information on screening, diagnosis, treatment, advanced disease issues, clinical trials and advocacy. Links are provided to local support groups and online discussion groups for survivors and their families. The site also provides access to a tool that allows patients to compare treatment options. The organization provides free publications, CD-ROMs and videos and sells a resource kit for new patients and a Care Kit for companions and family members.
Prostate Cancer Research Institute
The Prostate Cancer Research Institute is a nonprofit organization for prostate cancer education. The Web site includes tools that you can download to your computer, forms for keeping track of tests and treatments, a list of events and conferences, and information on treatment and side effects. Links are provided to support groups, discussion groups, and other prostate cancer sites. In addition to a glossary, the site includes a list of frequently used acronyms and abbreviations. You can request free publications, and the site also sells DVDs, videos and audio cassettes. The information on the site is available in Spanish.
Prostate Cancer Foundation
The Prostate Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization that strives to find better treatments and a cure for recurrent prostate cancer through the support of prostate cancer research. Information on the Web site includes screening, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, nutrition, survivor profiles and clinical trials. Newly diagnosed survivors will find questions to ask their doctors and a comparison of available treatments. There is information for caregivers and family members, as well as links to support groups, financial resources and publications.
LIVESTRONGTM SurvivorCare Program
LIVESTRONG SurvivorCare offers assistance to all cancer survivors, including the person diagnosed, caregivers, family and friends. The program provides education, information about treatment options and new treatments in development, counseling services and assistance with financial, employment or insurance issues. To provide these services, LIVESTRONG SurvivorCare has partnered with several organizations, including CancerCare, Patient Advocate Foundation and EmergingMed. The LIVESTRONG Survivorship Notebook is a tool that can help you organize and guide your cancer experience. The portable, three-ring binder contains a variety of information covering a full range of physical, emotional and practical survivorship topics. OncoLink
OncoLink is a multimedia cancer resource provided by the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania. Patients and physicians can get information about all types of cancer, news about research advances, and updates on cancer treatment. The Web site includes a clinical trial matching service, answers to frequently asked questions, or you can email experts with your own personal questions. OncoLink is also available in Spanish.
