LIVESTRONG SurvivorCare Program Partners We collaborate with several organizations to deliver the LIVESTRONG SurvivorCare program to help survivors face the everyday physical, emotional and practical challenges of cancer through education, qualified referrals and counseling services.
CancerCare is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer: people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones, and the bereaved. CancerCare programs – including counseling, education, financial assistance and practical help – are provided by trained oncology social workers and are completely free of charge. Founded in 1944, CancerCare now provides individual help to more than 90,000 people each year, in addition to the 1.4 million people who gain information and resources from its website. For more information about CancerCare, visit www.cancercare.org Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) is a national non-profit organization that seeks to safeguard patients through effective mediation assuring access to care, maintenance of employment and preservation of financial stability. PAF serves as an active liaison between patients and their insurer, employer and/or creditors to resolve insurance, job retention and/or debt crisis matters relative to their diagnosis through professional case managers, doctors and health care attorneys. The LIVESTRONG Clinical Trial Matching Service (powered by EmergingMed) assists cancer patients and their families in locating treatment options. Patients are pre-screened for clinical trials by completing a disease specific questionnaire about their diagnosis and treatment history. For more information about EmergingMed, visit www.emergingmed.com Our Clinical Trial Specialists guide each caller through the matching process over the phone or follow-up with the web visitors who begin the process online. The Clinical Trial Specialists review each patient’s questionnaire, provide a general clinical trial education, and offer to send trial summaries and contact information for trial matches. The Clinical Trial Specialists will stay in touch with each caller to ensure that the patient is able to contact the trial site, assist the patient (when possible) with any barriers to clinical trial access, as well as keep the patient up to date on new clinical trials for which they might be eligible. Lotsa Helping Hands is a simple, immediate way for friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors to assist loved ones in need. It's an easy-to-use, private group calendar, specifically designed for organizing helpers, where everyone can pitch in with meals delivery, rides, and other tasks necessary for life to run smoothly during times of medical crisis, end-of-life caring, or family caregiver exhaustion. It's also a place to keep these 'circles of community' informed with status updates, photo galleries, message boards, and more.
