Frequently Asked Questions for 2008 Research Grant Program RFPQ: How do I log in to proposal CENTRAL to start the LOI process? A: Please go to https://proposalcentral.altum.com/login.asp to register your organization. Refer to the Instructions for proposal CENTRAL here for more information. You may also contact Customer Service at proposal CENTRAL on the phone at 1(800)875-2562 ext. 227 or electronically at pcsupport@altum.com. Q: Are international researchers eligible to apply for a research grant during the 2008 grant cycle? A: Yes. Researchers outside of the U.S. are eligible to apply for a research grant. All applicants are subject to the eligibility requirements outlined in the 2008 RFP. Q: I am proposing a project related to identifying, preventing, or treating a late-effect in adolescent and young adult survivors and plan to submit under the Adolescent and Young Adult Health-Related Quality of Life area of need. Is this project eligible? A: No. Projects submitted under the Adolescent and Young Adult Health-Related Quality of Life area of need must be related to development and/or validation of health-related quality of life assessment tools specific to adolescents and young adults. Q: I am proposing a project related to identifying, preventing, or treating a survivorship issue and plan to submit under the Access to Quality Survivor Care area of need. Is this project eligible? A: It depends on the stated hypotheses in the project. Projects submitted under the Access to Quality Survivor Care area of need must include a central hypothesis related to: Q: My project doesn't fit into any of the areas of need listed in the RFP but it is a survivorship research project. Am I still eligible to apply? A: No. All proposed projects must fit into one or more of the areas of need identified in the RFP in order to be eligible. Q: I notice that the LAF is co-sponsoring a Young Investigator grant with the National Lung Cancer Partnership. Is this the ONLY Young Investigator grant the LAF will award in 2008, or can Young Investigators apply under another area of need listed in the RFP? A: Yes. Young Investigators may apply under another area of need listed in the RFP. The co-sponsored Young Investigator grant is not the only Young Investigator grant the LAF plans to award in 2008. Q: Can we get an extension on submitting our LOI? We had some technical problems with uploading our document. A: Applicants will not be given extensions if they encounter technical problems using the online application system, proposalCENTRAL. The LAF strongly encourages all applicants to submit proposals in a timely manner and to contact proposalCENTRAL customer service immediately if any problems occur. Do not wait until the submission deadline to upload your documents as sometimes technical problems can occur. If you have difficulties with the online system, please contact proposalCENTRAL at 1-800-875-2562 or support@altum.com. Q: When will the LAF notify me of their decision to accept or deny my LOI? A: Applicants will be notified of the status of their LOI on or before April 16, 2008. Do not contact LAF staff prior to this date to request information about the status of your LOI. Q: I'm having trouble with proposalCENTRAL, the online application system. Where can I find help? A: Applicants with questions about proposalCENTRAL, the online application system, should direct their questions to proposalCENTRAL's toll-free customer service line at (800) 875-2562 or by email at support@altum.com. Q: Should I submit a budget and/or references/citations at the LOI stage of the application process? A: No. At the LOI stage of the application process, applicants are strongly encouraged to focus on driving home the significance of the project and stating their hypotheses and aims clearly and succinctly. |
