Copywriter
SUMMARY:
The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) unites people through programs and experiences to empower cancer survivors to live life on their own terms and to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. We focus on cancer prevention, access to screening and care, research and quality of life for cancer survivors. Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong, the LAF has raised more than $250 million for the fight against cancer.
The Copywriter will be responsible for communicating LAF programs, accomplishments, events and/or points of view in the LAF voice through printed pieces and other marketing initiatives, talking points, website content and other online communication.
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The LAF is looking for a team member who makes productive contributions through talent, knowledge, skills and strong working habits. Specific qualifications include:
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically with a strong understanding of marketing and communication strategies, practices and techniques.
- Excellent writing, organizational and project management skills with ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner.
- A background in copywriting and project management for collateral and online communications.
- Must be an analytical thinker who understands the needs of the project and can suggest creative solutions to achieve solutions.
- Proven excellence in interpersonal relationship skills and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, to accept specific direction and to work as part of a dynamic team.
- Demonstrated ability to manage results in stressful situations.
- Must demonstrate proficiency with the electronic communication, computing and other systems that comprise the modern working environment.
- Knowledge of the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors with an awareness of, and a genuine interest in, supporting the LAF mission.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, edit and proofread copy for LAF advertising and marketing collateral, such as brochures, event materials, certificates, presentations, bios, etc.
- Develop, edit and proofread copy for newsletters, web content and other online marketing communication.
- Assist with messaging/positioning statements, talking points and event script development.
- Assist with review and approval of local LIVESTRONG Army, Summit delegate, grassroots fundraiser, grantee and other authorized constituent press materials, collateral and other marketing materials for proper LAF messaging.
- Assist with review and approval of corporate supporter/licensor materials press materials, collateral and other marketing materials for proper LAF messaging.
- Support project management and administrative needs such as project initiation, trafficking and collateral inventory management.
TRAVEL:
This position will include 10-15% travel.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-4 years experience in marketing, advertising, publishing or related field is required. Knowledge of AP writing style is required.
