Application Developer
SUMMARY:
The Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) unites people through programs and experiences to empower cancer survivors to live life on their own terms and to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. We focus on cancer prevention, access to screening and care, research and quality of life for cancer survivors. Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong, the LAF has raised more than $250 million for the fight against cancer.
The application developer position is responsible for the maintenance and development of a web based LIVESTRONG Cancer Treatment Summary and Care Plan application. Candidate will also provide support and development of an internal CRM used for customer records and website delivery. Candidate will be a part of the internal information technology team and will support foundation initiatives with appropriate technologies.
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors with an awareness of, and a genuine interest in, supporting the LAF mission
- Demonstrate critical thinking while organizing and planning workloads, project and coding that directly impacts our services both internally and externally
- Ability to work independently as well as to accept specific direction
- Ability to manage congruent projects in a timely manner, to communicate effectively in writing and in person to many levels of stakeholders
- Must demonstrate proficiency with the electronic communication, computing, and other systems that comprise the modern working environment
- Proven excellence in interpersonal relationship skills and oral and written communication skills
- Efficiently organize projects, materials and office systems
- Demonstrate attention to detail
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years experience in Java development
- 3+ years experience in Javascript development
- Experience with Spring Framework
- Experience with Hibernate object/relational persistence and query service
- Experience with AppFuse IDE
- Experience with SQL (MySQL, Server 2005) and database design
- Experience with Html, CSS and general web design
- Experience writing and executing test scripts
- Knowledge of Apache and Tomcat Administration a plus
- Knowledge of Kintera CRM/CMS a plus
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a technical and operational resource for the LIVESTRONG SurvivorCare application and for the internal CRM/CMS application
- Work closely with stakeholders and project managers to maintain and enhance existing survivor care application
- Communicate development goals and deliverables effectively with internal and external teams
- Provide excellent support to internal LAF employees and initiatives
- Work with information technology team on internal group goals and issue resolution
- Document new and existing technology as necessary
- Create technical design documents
- Provide LAF staff with the necessary documentation and information regarding our services and systems so they may make appropriate and efficient decisions regarding service choices
- Speak in non-technical terms and situations to a staff of varying technical expertise (from experienced knowledge of technology to basic computer knowledge)
- Demonstrate ability to identify and solve problems in a timely manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
TRAVEL:
Infrequent travel may be required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a computer sciences/software development related field plus 3 years of experience is preferred or at least 7+ years of relevant experience.
COMPENSATION:
