Community Toolkit

What is the Community Toolkit and how can it help you?

The Community Toolkit provides you information about best practices related to running a successful non-profit. It also teaches you how to apply them to your work and to your organization. These best practices include community outreach, program development and evaluation as well as information related to advocacy, grants, marketing and fundraising efforts.

This toolkit is intended to support organizations that currently have a 501(c)3 status and are interested in serving people affected by cancer.

The toolkit can assist you in:

  • Learning what steps to take to plan, implement and evaluate programs
  • Securing grant funding and maintaining good relationships with grantors
  • Engaging the local community and volunteers
  • Understanding effective marketing and outreach strategies
  • Learning about advocacy and how your organization can be persuasive

Each topic area provides an overview of what you can expect to learn within the section, including general tips and information as well as resources. Some sections have worksheets, samples, templates, or other interactive pieces that can be used to facilitate decision making within your organization. Click on the Community Toolkit Table of Contents to see a complete listing of what is included and to access the detailed information.
