C. About the Lance Armstrong FoundationThere are close to 12 million cancer survivors living in the United States today. This number has more than tripled in the past 30 years and will only continue to grow. Founded in 1997 by cancer survivor and champion cyclist Lance Armstrong, the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) unites people through programs and experiences. The LAF empowers cancer survivors to live life on their own terms and raises awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. The LAF defines cancer survivors as anyone diagnosed with cancer as well as the people in their lives who are affected by the diagnosis. This may include family members, friends, caregivers and healthcare providers. We believe that survivorship begins at the moment of diagnosis. |
