To me LIVESTRONG means to keep going.

Cancer has made its mark on my family: my grandmother, uncles, and aunts. I had 2 girlfriends this past year also lose their mothers to Cancer. And on June 1 of this year, I lost a friend and work colleague, Kate Voth, to Stage 4 melanoma.

Kate was one of the most inspirational people I've had the pleasure to work with. Her integrity, generosity and positivity continue to influence how I appreciate life and handle the obstacles put before me.

Last year, I stayed on the sidelines, cheered on the runners and took pictures. This year, I will be running my first half-marathon. I won’t be the first people to cross the finish line (I could possibly be the last), but I will finish and do so in memory of Kate and the many others we have lost this year.

In 2013, Team Kate raised more than $60,000 for the Livestrong Foundation and I hope this year we achieve the same if not more. Now, I ask for your support in making this happen. A donation of whatever you can give would be greatly appreciated. And if you would also like to run, please join us.
