To me LIVESTRONG means SUPPORT, INFORMATION AND ENCOURAGEMENT.

In 2008, I rode in RAGBRAI to honor my wife, Cheryl as a 22 year cancer survivor.  I rode for Team LIVESTRONG and learned of all it had to offer those living with cancer and those living with those who have cancer.  22 days after I returned from a successful ride, I learned I had prostate cancer.  My father had it so I always knew it was likely to be in my future but not at the ripe old age of 53. It was then that I learned how much LIVESTRONG had to offer.  I developed my attitude, game plan and perserverance through information, support and encouragement I received from the LIVESTRONG organization and family.  I found other survivors who offered advice and encouragement.  I found doctors to consider, consult with and ultimately to choose to lead my fight. I found Dr. Ian Thompson, the world's greatest prostate cancer Doc.  And, to date, we were succesful.  I continue to ride RAGBRAI in the even numbered years to support LIVESTRONG. July will be my fourth and third after surviving my diagnosis.  Ever forward!
