2016 Marathon Relay to Benefit Livestrong

AUSTIN, Texas, August 22, 2016 -- High Five Events, one of the largest privately owned event production companies in the United States, is pleased to announce that Livestrong will once again be the beneficiary for the Marathon Relay. This is the fourth year that Livestrong will be the beneficiary for the six-person relay that’s set to take place on September 18th. The event’s proceeds will help improve the lives of people affected by cancer, now.

Marathon Relay is also the Official Kickoff Event to the Austin Marathon® presented by NXP and the perfect event for runners beginning their marathon training. The Marathon Relay has start, finish, and relay exchanges that will take place on Riverside Drive, across from Auditorium Shores. Each team, including Team Livestrong, will divide and conquer the streets of Austin, with each runner running 4.37 miles.

“We’re proud to support Livestrong, an organization that continues to positively affect countless individuals fighting cancer,” said Stacy Keese, co-owner of High Five Events. “We look forward to continuing to strengthen this relationship to the benefit of millions of individuals fighting for their lives.”

Livestrong fights for the more than 32.5 million people around the world affected by cancer now. They continues to provide direct services to cancer patients and survivors through its free, bilingual navigation program both over the phone and online, while creating access to resources across the country. In the community, the Livestrong at the YMCA program has made a return to fitness and well-being possible for more than 41,000 survivors in more than 500 YMCA locations.

“Just as the Marathon Relay teams allow six people to complete a marathon as one, a team of caregivers, friends, and family members are needed to help cancer patients and survivors through their journey as well,” said Greg Lee, Livestrong president. “Team Livestrong is so excited to cheer on each Marathon Relay runner, 4.37 miles at a time, and are so appreciative of their enthusiasm to be one in the fight for people affected by cancer.”

Registration for the Marathon Relay is still open. Normal Pricing ends on August 23rd and will increase after.
