Flipping your doctor’s visit on its head

Imagine if patients were treated as experts in their own health.
Imagine if doctors were able to find joy in their practice every day.
This is Flip the Clinic.

Have you ever left your doctor’s office and thought “if only they had done/said X, that experience would have been so much more positive?”

That is the simple concept behind Flip the Clinic, a program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. It is an open experiment to transform the patient-clinician experience by creating a specific set of practices that can improve the medical encounter. It will also inspire others to invent new ways to get more out of the doctor’s visit.

At a series of one-day labs across the country, Flip the Clinic is bringing together patients, heath care providers, innovators, entrepreneurs, media and experts in patient-centered care to brainstorm simple but impactful ways to improve medical care.

Here at Livestrong we have been a voice of and service provider to cancer patients, caregivers and survivors for 18 years. Patient-centered care is at the core of all that we do, which is what inspired the Livestrong Cancer Institutes, our new partnership with the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin.

We are very proud to be the official host of the Flip the Clinic Austin Lab here at our headquarters on April 23. We are excited to roll up our sleeves and get this hands-on workshop started with innovative local individuals and organizations that share our passion for revolutionizing how patients are treated within the heath care system.
