Krystal’s Fertility Story | Breast Cancer Awareness Month

My name is Krystal. I am 33 years old and was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma (breast cancer) on May 24th. I am the first one in my family and friend group to have cancer, so I had no idea where to even start. I was completely lost.

Starting a family of my own is my biggest dream, so I was immediately advised by my oncologist to start IVF to get my eggs frozen due to the harsh realities of chemotherapy.

Upon consultation, I found out that my insurance did not cover any of medications or procedures. I was completely discouraged. How was I supposed to come up with thousands of dollars out of pocket and try to pay my bills while on unpaid FMLA at work?

That’s where Livestrong Fertility came in and helped me have a chance at achieving my lifelong goal. They were able to pay for every single medication that was required throughout the entire process and were extremely pleasant and amazing to work with. The employees made me forget the stress of infertility and cancer by guiding me every step of the way! If it wasn’t for Livestrong, there’s a chance I wouldn’t be able to ever start a family of my own. Thank you so much!
